In any Health care system a physician plays a pivotal role. He diagnoses and prescribes medicines to patients, who are suppose to cnosume them as directed. In our society a patient blindly trusts prescriber. Whatever he prescribes, patient do try to purchase the very brand of that medicine, and not only that, in our society most of the patients confirms their purchased medicine with them. They further enquire about the dosing schedule, although it is written on the prescription but words of doctors are tonic for them. Most of the times patients have lot of queries but doctors in clinics and hospitals dont have enough time to satisfy their queries.
What happens then?
This article gives a clue about that!
and keep in mind that these are the Views of a person who is not a PHARMACIST!
After reading this article a hard feelings about physicians may develop!
but being a pharmacist i support them!
because they made themselves, over burden, in terms of responsibilities.
Pharmacist is not the alternative to doctors nor he threatens the role of physician in a health care system, but he shares the responsibilities of Prescribers.
Recognizing the role of a qualified clinical pharmacist is the need of hour!!!!!
FDA stands for food and drug admistration
ReplyDeleteNot fedral drug authority
Mufaddal you are right!
ReplyDeleteI think the time now came when we need to raise voice for having a health care system where all the health care professionals works under their own jurisdiction and we need to redefine the legal jurisdiction of each health care professional, when the doctors would raise voice for having a federal Drugs Authority then where are the PPA or PPC why they didn't conducted a press conference for implementation of Drug Act in its real sense, its high time to describe the professional responsibilities of a pharmacist. We all know how purchases of medicines are made in Govt. hospitals ,by the way the incidence of PIC was result of corruption more than else..
